The "machine consumer" concept is particularly interesting. We've spent decades optimizing interfaces for human attention, but the next generation of software may need to optimize equally for machine comprehension.

Makes me wonder whether APIs and structured context layers will eventually become more important than the interface itself.

I think we're heading in that direction. Interfaces won't disappear, but they may stop being the primary layer. In many cases, the API and context layer could become the real product, with the UI acting more like a convenience for humans.

I find all of this deeply unsettling. The more capable our systems become, the more we seem to be handing over decisions to processes that fewer and fewer people truly understand.
